so, i was planning on a post to recap a lovely weekend. i had a great visit with my parents, 3 lovely friends hosted a sip and see for miss savannah, and the house is blissfully quiet.
so i log into blogger and what the heck??!!?? my photos from flickr are all kinds of messed up. you see, i have a mac... with iphoto. i just click on the photos in iphoto and tell it to load up to flickr. and then, when i write a post, i paste the html code from flickr into the post, and voila! photos! no crazy uploading and waiting... perfection. and the photos are big. and the spacing is easy peasy. and you can click on the photo and it takes you to my flickr page... you can even see other photos that just didn't make the blog. i loved it.
until today. perhaps i will love it again after i fix it...
i don't know what technology snafu happened out in the world of the internet, but i have to fix the messed up photos before i write a new post.
so check back later for a recap of my lovely weekend... and if you have looked at my blog lately, and gotten the image not available... then maybe you understand why i am a little peeved.
and if my blog is ever acting funky like this again... just send me an email and let me know... i am not the best about checking my own blog... thanks.

look what came in the mail yesterday!
do you like them? i am super pleased with how they turned out. and very proud of my frugality on the purchase. i had a lady design them from etsy and then i printed them from snapfish. lets just say that it was totally worth it to give up the things i wanted {5x7, 100lb cardstock, linen finish, front and back} for what i got {4x6, matte finish photo paper, front only} i saved over $140. somehow i didn't think faustino would deem $140 extra to get all the things i wanted in an announcement a very important way to spend the very little income a resident earns. and we are saving for disney world. {yes, it is official, the plans are in motion to go}
now the question. do i hand address them or print out labels? what do you do? what do you prefer??

3 months already!! and other randomness...
savannah turned 3 months old last week. and i wanted to blog about it, but quite frankly, i was up to my earlobes in shower thinking and shower doing. {yet quite ironically, i needed to wash my own hair... the baby powder trick does work}
anyway, she is a sturdy girl... i have been doing the very inaccurate way of weighing her... i think she is 15.5 lbs or so {you know, step on the scale with and without her} and she moved up a diaper size. i put her in a pack of the 2-3's but will buy size 3 for her this week.
she is really sweet... she has a gentle coo. she likes to sit up and take things in when she is held. she loves swinging {thank god} and she likes bath time. she is so laid back. i am amazed. she just goes with the flow... and really only cries if she is tired or gassy. i am so lucky.
and she's even turning into a great sleeper.
I wrote the above on sunday. but was sleepy, and didn't finish it. since then... she has turned into a wretched sleeper. what.am.i.doing.wrong?????????????? let's just hope it is a short lived phase. i was totally used to sleeping!
on another subject entirely, we went to the pool today with sue... here are some pictures. it is so pretty out there... eventually i will have the foresight to snap some photos of the views. perhaps i will do that on a visit where the adults outnumber the little ones. :)

one random thing today -- we had a small potty training victory. i won't post it b/c i am scared that will jinx it... but just cross your fingers that we have more victories. because potty training wears me out.
and one other random thing. i think i know why savannah is a superstar chunkster. {could other nursing mom's please weigh in on this??} i think that my milk is super fatty. maybe showing you a photo of my milk in the fridge is TMI....i am not sure. but let me tell you that this is amazing to me. the bottle on the left, has over 5 ounces in it -- approximately 0.5 oz of clearish milk, and then 5 oz. of white milk, and then a layer of solids at the top.

with ethan, my milk was much less fatty. it was probably around 4 oz. or so of the clearish stuff, and then a half oz. of the white milk, and then a 1/4 oz {or less} of the cream. well, with this milk, it is crazy.
is this why savannah has fat rolls even around her ankles? unbelievable! maybe no one cares about this... but to me it is sort of fascinating... anyone out there nurse your children and notice differences in your milk? very curious...

the twins' shower
this weekend i had the pleasure of helping host a shower for my sister-in-law's twin girls that will be making their debut in september. i am so proud of how it all turned out --- kristi had a great showing of her friends, she received some wonderful things for the twins, and i think everyone had a nice time...

on tuesday evening, i got the bright idea to make these two buntings, and i thought it would be the perfect project to practice my applique skills {from this inspiring tutorial} and found out that when you are new to applique it takes a long stinkin' time to make 9 letters. thank you, kristi, for not naming your children long names. i am still sub-par, so i can practice on savannah's name. {which will not be fun to do... but will make for good practice.} and notice, i did take a close up of these for you. intentional. during this sewing project i was so focused i couldn't even watch tivo'd episodes of my soap, if that says anything... and they were still not close-up worthy.
also on tuesday {do i wait until the eleventh hour, or what??} i decided that everything should match. the games, the favors, the sign in sheet, the gift recording sheet, the flowers, etc. so i took the image from the etsy designed invites and put it on all the paper things... and i loved every minute of it. i am kicking myself for not taking graphic design classes at baylor. it would be so nice to know how to use photoshop. seriously, maybe i will when my kids go to school... hmmm... food for thought.

and guests took one of these when they left. they are my mother-in-law's danish sugar cookies. melt in your mouth buttery goodness. do you want the recipe?

and a special thanks to my husband... who let me leave the housework half-done and took care of the kids on saturday. he also cooked dinner on friday. hamburgers on the grill and homemade french fries. and i wonder why the scale didn't move down this weekend? between dinner like that and the shower {and the wine and champagne in the middle of the day??!? decadence!} here's to healthy choices in August...

little hands
my little boy is stringing beads on a piece of jute. these beads were mine from when i was a crafty child -- i saved them from broken jewelry, projects, and even from summers at kanakuk. i've just never been able to throw them away because i thought they would be good for something. and now my taste has evolved... and cheapo beads aren't so appealing for my own projects, but how much fun it was for me to see ethan using them. and when faustino gave me a raised eyebrow about why our son was stringing beads, saying he was making a necklace, i replied - "fine motor skills, honey." and his little hands are doing much better on the fine motor skill front because of it...

and for record keeping purposes, last night, ethan was having a hard time going to sleep. and was still crying after i left his room. I went to change sister, and realized that i should have put her cloth diaper in the pail in ethan's room, so i went back in there, and took savannah with me. i told ethan, "sister wants to say goodnight to you" to which he moved over, and made room for her under the covers and then looked at me and said, "go away" how stinking funny is that? i thought it was so sweet that he wanted to be with savannah but wanted to be alone... like he didn't need me to supervise him with her. this week he has started really taking his own interest in her -- in a very sweet way.
and also for record keeping purposes, little miss has discovered her little hands last week and has picked up a paci that made it to her mouth all on her own on a handful of occasions. she is so sweet - always up for tagging along with whatever we are doing... we went to the pool on Sunday and she was just as happy as could be. I am so lucky. I could not have handled a high needs child for baby #2. I know i was right when i was pregnant and woke up one day with the overwhelming peace that Savannah would be a very sweet girl. She is indeed a very sweet girl.
